Service wont start

Thanks for the quick response!

I did what you said and was told that my "MyName" file in my "hosts"
directory had a variable for which there was no value.

Upon examining that file I found (hope this formats right):

When I reran:

tincd -n vpn -D -d5

it
 found my tap device (listening on 0.0.0.0 port 655), announced it was
"ready" and then proceeded to tell me that my config file for the
server was not found and that, of course, there was no address
specified for the server.  That is fine, because it doesn't exist.  At
that point the command would hang and I needed to cntl-C out of it.

After that, I ran:

tincd -n vpn

and, I think it
w orked.  It told me that it couldn't create the service (since it
already exists) and then it started the service.

I can now stop it and start it from the Services window.

So, the question is how did my c:\program
files\tinc\vpn\hosts\MyName file get created improperly?  It appears
that when entering the subnet in my MyName file, I didn't input a return
after typing /24.  When I then generated the keys, it put the key
exactly where I left off.  All for the want of a single <cr><lf>.

I sent this email just to document it for those who might run into
this in the future.
