16 hours on and the machine didn't die. As for sound... John Brodie commented: The new HDMI audio often breaks sound if an HDMI audio monitor is not attached at startup. You could disable CONFIG_HDMI_LPE_AUDIO for now until a fix or work around is found. I'll try building a kernel without that disabled.
