Backlight control (Sharks Cove schematics)

Sadly the error "Failed to own the pwm chip" still occurs.

Ok. Now the new build kernel does not hang anymore. So some patch for the asus t100 seems to result in a hanging kernel on the click. However don't know which patch it is.

I found this:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96571
With the toshiba click we get the same error. Maybe the patch in the last post works also for us (If it is working).
Sadly i could not test it...

I tried to apply the patch and build a 4.7rc4/5 kernel. However the click hangs on startup.
However these hangs have nothing to do with this patch. I just applied the asus t100 patches. The compiled kernel works with a t100.
Now I will try the vanilla kernel with just the keyboard/touchscreen fixes. Hopefully this is booting then...

best
regards

Hi all,

Reading the Sharks Cove schematics PDF (the TCM really seems to be the
same hardware), I see that the backlight is connected to the SIO_PWM(0)
output of the SoC (maybe some sort of SIO device driver need to be
enabled, just like GPIO).
The DSDT (found on
http://www.zaurus.org.uk/download/toshiba_click_mini_l9w/[http://www.zaurus.org.uk/download/toshiba_click_mini_l9w/][http://www.zaurus.org.uk/download/toshiba_click_mini_l9w/[http://www.zaurus.org.uk/download/toshiba_click_mini_l9w/]] thanks Paul)
mentions two PWM devices as "Device (PWM1)" and "Device (PWM2)" with
HID/CID "80860F09" and various methods (Power State 0 and 3, Current
Resource Settings, etc.).
I guess controlling the backlight is a matter of actually using those
devices (or one of those, preferably the first one).
